On March 4 and 5 2024, a meeting of the General Directors and other high-ranking officials on international issues of the Civil Aviation of the CERG countries took place in Bucharest, at the Headquarters of the Romanian Civil Aeronautical Authority.

CERG (Central European Rotation Group) is the joint representation group (both for ICAO election matters and for joint and cooperative actions related to civil aviation safety) to the UN International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) of the following European countries: Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Greece, Hungary, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia.

The HCAA at the said meeting, was represented by the Governor Dr. Christos Tsitouras and the General Director of Financial Supervision, Kalliopi Lykou.

Visit to the Romanian Parliament

At the meeting, important issues related to both the closer cooperation of the CERG countries with the amendment of the existing Memorandum of Cooperation and other strategic issues related to the representation of these countries in ICAO and ECAC were discussed.

In particular, issues related to the ICAO Council elections in the year 2025 and the candidacy of the Czech Republic as a CERG representative were discussed, as well as the upcoming elections for the members of the ECAC Coordination Committee.

Both the participants of the meeting and the Ambassadors and Permanent Representatives of the CERG members to ICAO underline the strategic importance of CERG's extroversion to achieve the objectives of the member states, through multiple actions at the national or international level following the standards of the other major European countries but also similar European coalitions.

In the context of the meeting, Dr. Christos Tsitouras proposed, and this was accepted with great satisfaction by the other CERG member states, to carry out CERG outreach actions (joint meetings, etc.), at the upcoming ICAO Green Airports world conference hosted by the HCAA in April 2024 in Athens.

It is worth noting that Mr. Nicolae Stoica, Director General of the Romanian Civil Aeronautical Authority, as part of regular etiquette, offered an impeccable hospitality, during the days of stay, to the national delegations.
