In the spirit of granting maximum consumer protection and ensuring a high level of protection for air passengers, European Union has established two Regulations, namely:
- European Regulation EC 261/2004 which establishes rights for passengers who are affected by flight cancellations, long delays , denied boarding, upgrading and downgrading.
- European Regulation EC 1107/2006 concerning the rights of disabled persons and persons with reduced mobility when travelling by air, establishes a set of obligations for air carriers and tour operators as well as for airport management bodies, to ensure that passengers with disability or reduced mobility enjoy air travel opportunities comparable to those of other passengers
Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority (HCAA) is responsible for enforcing these two European Regulations through its dedicated Air Passenger Rights Section.
