HCAA–EUROCONTROL meeting with the Greek aviation community: a united front for the modernization of Greece’s Air Navigation Services/ Athens/ March 3rd 2026

Following the signing of the Special Agreement (“Special Agreement – Support to State”) between the Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority (HCAA – “APA”) and EUROCONTROL on 2 March 2026, a working meeting was held on 3 March 2026 at the HCAA premises, in the presence of the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Mr Christos Dimas, and the Secretary General for Transport, Mr Stelios Sakaretsios.

The meeting was attended by EUROCONTROL Director General Mr Raúl Medina and EUROCONTROL Director of Network Management Mr Iacopo Prissinotti, alongside representatives of the aviation market and key stakeholders of Greece’s aviation ecosystem: from Athens International Airport, Chairman Mr Michalis Kefalogiannis and CEO Mr Georgios Kallimasias; from Fraport Greece, Mr Panagiotis Spyratos (COO); from Kasteli, Mr Nikolaos Anastasiou (CEO); from the Hellenic Civil Aviation Service (YPA), Governor Mr Georgios Vagenas; from Aegean Airlines, Deputy CEO Mr Michalis Kouveliotis; from SKY express, General Director Mr Giorgos Lioubis; and from the Hellenic Air Force General Staff (GEA), Inspector General Mr Dimitrios Fanaras.

Discussions covered all matters of common interest, with a particular focus on air navigation, operational performance and enhancing the capacity of the Air Traffic Management system. Special emphasis was placed on the need for coordinated action, so that Greece can respond effectively to the growing demands of air traffic operations.

In this context, the Governor of YPA/HASP presented the actions being planned to improve the efficiency of air traffic management and to increase capacity, underscoring YPA’s clear commitment to delivering the necessary projects and interventions, with the aim of achieving measurable results in operational performance and in the overall picture of the Greek ATM/ANS system.
