HCAA Governor, Dr. Tsitouras’ special address in ASA Leadership Forum, Athens, 20 -22 September 2023

HCAA Governor, Dr. Tsitouras, attended the ASA Leadership Forum 2023, that was held in Athens, on 20-22 September and its central theme epigrammatically was: GAINING GROUND TOWARDS RESILIENCE.

Distinguished personalities from the international civil aviation scene participated to the forum, such as Mr. Nicolas Rallo, Regional Director, European and North Atlantic (EUR/NAT) Office, (ICAO) and Mr. Jesper Rasmussen, Director Flight Standards, EASA.

HCAA Governor delivered a special address to the large audience of the conference. During his speech Mr. Tsitouras stated that aviation industry has been at the forefront of human progress for over a century. Aviation has always been an industry of resilience. Throughout its history, it has faced numerous challenges, but through resilience has not only survived but thrived. Sustainability is also a moral imperative and a business necessity. He suggested that a balance must be struck between growth and environmental responsibility. To achieve this, effective regulation is the cornerstone of a successful aviation industry. Regulators are enablers of resilience, adaptability, and progress in the aviation sector.

As the Head of the Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority that regulates the aviation ecosystem in Greece, he pointed out that as we navigate the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead, he recognizes that a strong and forward-thinking aviation regulator is an ally in achieving the resilience, adaptability, and progress that will define the future of aviation.

In conclusion, he emphasized that the European aviation industry stands at a crossroads, facing challenges and opportunities that will shape its future. Aviation resilience, sustainability, effective regulation, and adaptation to long-term disruptors are the keys to success.

The ASA (AIRPORT SERVICE ASSOCIATION) Leadership Forum is targeted at senior decision-makers responsible for the procurement and selling of ground handling services. This is an opportunity for ground service providers to discuss important issues related to the operations of services with the airlines. ASA Leadership Forum creates an environment to build new long-term business partnerships and meet with existing service providers.
