The Hellenic Aviation Summer School 2026 was successfully completed once again this year. The program has been implemented since 2016 and, since 2025, has been held under the auspices of the Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority (HCAA).
The program is an innovative educational initiative founded on the vision of the distinguished academic Professor Triant Flouris. Its primary objective is to inspire, raise awareness among, and educate secondary school students in science and technology through the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) approach, using aviation as a practical learning platform. The curriculum incorporates a range of innovative academic activities covering four key areas of aviation: aviation history and careers, flight operations, air traffic management, and airport operations. Particular emphasis is placed on aviation safety, emerging technologies, and the economic and environmental sustainability of air transport.
The program was established with the aim of contributing to the development of future professionals capable of pursuing careers in both civil and military aviation. It is primarily intended for secondary school students who aspire to build a career in either Civil Aviation or the Hellenic Air Force. Participation is offered free of charge through the financial and technical support of Athens International Airport "Eleftherios Venizelos" and Fraport Greece, which sponsor the program on an annual basis.
The graduation ceremony took place on Thursday, 2 July, in the presence of the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Christos Dimas, the Governor of the Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority, Christos Tsitouras, and the Chairman of the Board of Athens International Airport, Michail Kefalogiannis.
Representing the HCAA were also Pepi Lykou, Director General for Economic Oversight and Administrative Support, as well as several HCAA employees whose children participated in the program.
During their speeches, all speakers highlighted the importance of providing high-quality education to future professionals in the demanding yet exciting field of aviation. They also stressed the need to inspire the younger generation and create meaningful opportunities and incentives that encourage them to pursue careers in the dynamic and challenging aviation sector.
The ceremony concluded with the presentation of certificates to the students, followed by the customary commemorative group photographs of all participants.
