The first meeting of the EASA Management Board for 2024, under the leadership of the new Executive Director, Mr. Florian Guillermet, took place at the headquarters of the European Union Aviation Safety Agency in Cologne on 6 & 7 June 2024. Greece, as a member of the Management Board, was represented by the Governor of the Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority, Dr. Christos Tsitouras and the General Director of Aviation Activities, Mr. Konstantinos Karageorgis.
The members of the Management Board dealt with a wide range of topics, involving operational, administrative and financial issues. Among other things, they had the opportunity to comment on the cooperation between EASA and EUROCONTROL, while during the meeting the results of EASA studies on runway safety and ATCO (air traffic controller fatigue) were presented, as well as the progress of the implementation of the Data4Safety program.
The EASA Management Board elected Koen Milis, Director General of the Belgian Civil Aviation Authority, as its new Chair in a vote held at its regular half-yearly meeting on June 6-7, 2024. Anelia Marinova, Director General of the Bulgarian Civil Aviation Administration, was elected to the position of Deputy Chair. The Chair and Deputy Chair are elected by the EASA Management Board members from among their members. Their mandate runs for four years. The election was necessitated as the previous incumbents are leaving the Management Board.
