Participation of HCAA in the 62nd meeting of the Provisional Council of Eurocontrol / Brussels / November 28, 2024

The 62nd EUROCONTROL Provisional Council convened on November 28th in Brussels, under the Presidency of Johann Friedrich Colsman, Germany’s former Director General of Civil Aviation. Greece was represented by the HCAA Governor, Dr. Christos Tsitouras, who is a regular member of the Council.

The council discussed shared challenges, and reflecting on the performance of Summer 2024, EUROCONTROL Director General, Raúl Medina, reinforced the significance of collaborative efforts to enhance operational efficiency and network resilience in 2025 and beyond. In delivering the seamless experience passengers expect and maximum connectivity, the entire aviation ecosystem must unite.

During the 62nd Provisional Council meeting, the strong engagement and involvement from the States and Stakeholders was emphasized. The key message that came out of the meeting was that all actors need to tackle common challenges like network capacity, performance and sustainability, and to continue to strengthen engagement, and do so in full transparency.

This meeting was an important time to explain and discuss the progress made on different fronts as the entire body works to ensure deliver to the European aviation system, and to do so in a sensible, cost-efficient way. As Mr. Medina mentioned “we need to stand side by side and work hard to prepare summer 25. Improvement actions must be a priority for all of us from now.  We will continue to deal together with the challenges of today and tomorrow”.
