The awarding of the certificates was attended, on behalf of the Hellenic Air Force General Staff, by Major General (I) Konstantinos - Savvas Tzovaras, Director of A Branch. For the airports of Karpathos and Lemnos, there was also good cooperation with Hellenic Air Force General Staff (HAFGS), given the fact that these two airports are in use jointly with the Hellenic Air Force.
It was preceded by the certifications of the State Airports of Heraklion and Alexandroupolis on 24/1/25, the Airports of Ioannina, Syros and Milos on 31/1/25 and the Airports of Kythera, Chios and Sitia on 14/2/2025.
With the issuance of these certificates, HCAA completed the certification process for all HASP aerodromes falling within the scope of Regulation (EU) 2018/1139, confirming their compliance with the European Union and EASA requirements for their infrastructure, operation and organizational structure.
The HCAA Governor, Dr. Christos Tsitouras, stated: “We have completed today the EASA certification cycle of state airports managed by the Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority. The Certification was carried out through the thorough and in-depth study of the characteristics of the airports and the benchmarking of these with the specifications of the European regulatory framework, as a result of the commitments we have made to the European institutions to upgrade the country's image internationally. The strict adherence to the timetable comes as a result of the intensive effort and the organized cooperation between the executives of our two bodies”.
