On Friday, December 6th, the first meeting was held between the Governor of the Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority (HCAA), Dr. Christos Tsitouras, and the esteemed former Ambassador of the Hellenic Republic to Canada, Dimitriοs Azemopoulos, who is set to soon assume the role of Greece's Permanent Representative to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) based in Montreal.

The meeting, which took place at the HCAA headquarters, was characterized by an excellent spirit of collaboration and full alignment of views regarding the strategy and objectives to be pursued.

Dimitriοs Azemopoulos, with his extensive experience in diplomacy and deep knowledge of international affairs, combined with a strong focus on public diplomacy and promoting Greece's soft power, is expected to play a significant role in advancing national interests at ICAO. His presence at ICAO is anticipated to further strengthen Greece's representation, advancing national interests and substantially contributing to the enhancement of flight safety, sustainable development, and environmental protection.

The discussion focused on shared priorities, such as ensuring safety and service quality in civil aviation and Greece's contribution to international developments in the sector.

The HCAA, maintaining excellent relations with ICAO leadership, collaborates closely with the organization to implement international standards in safety, sustainability, and environmental protection. Dimitriοs Azemopoulos's presence creates the conditions for a productive partnership that will promote both Greece’s national interests and ICAO’s objectives.
