On Friday January 31^st 2025, a meeting was held between the HCAA Governor Dr. Christos Tsitouras and the Iraqi Ambassador Mr. Mouayed Saleh. Mr. Saleh was accompanied by his Counsellor Ziyad Almidlij.

The meeting, which took place at the HCAA Headquarters, in a cordial atmosphere, aimed to explore the possibility of a direct connection between the two countries, within the framework of the Air Services Agreement (ASA), ratified by LD185/1974 (Government Gazette, A’, 350), and the Record of Discussions (RoD), which were signed in Athens on 30 and 31 November 2017.

The possibility of multiple designation provided by the ASA to the airlines of both sides allows them to operate directly from any points in Greece to any points in Iraq, and vice versa. Making use of the legal framework will benefit passengers and businesses of both sides.
