The Executive Director of the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), Mr. Florian Guillermet, visited the offices of the Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority on March 6th, 2025, and met with the Governor of the Authority, Dr. Christos Tsitouras, and HCAA executives.

The meeting discussed the significant dynamics of the civil aviation sector in Greece, as evidenced by the high growth rates of its aviation sector, as well as the enhancement of the oversight activities achieved by the operation of the independent Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority.

The progress achieved over the last year and a half in all areas related to aviation activity in Greece was also recorded and reflected in the results of the most recent inspections carried out both by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

The Governor of the HCAA stated: "Today we welcomed with great pleasure the Executive Director of EASA to the offices of the HCAA and we had the opportunity to discuss a number of important developments, such as the completion of the certification process by the HCAA of ten state-owned airports managed by the Hellenic Aviation Service Provider (HASP), as well as recent legislative initiatives, which provide the Authority with additional guarantees for the continuation of its successful course in the future".

For his part, the Executive Director of EASA acknowledged the important steps taken by Greece and the HCAA. He stressed the importance of continuing this effort in areas that still need improvement, such as air traffic control infrastructure. “Actions to improve and modernise these infrastructures are of particular importance in the light of the development of the aviation sector and the increase in air traffic in Greece, which make Greece a key player in the European aviation ecosystem”.
