On the sidelines of the visit of the President of the ICAO Council, Mr. Salvatore Sciacchitano, to the HCAA, a celebratory event was held to mark the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Hellenic Aviation Society. The event took place on Friday, May 24, 2024 at the HCAA premises with the kind support of the Authority.

The special occasion was honored with their presence by the President of the ICAO Council, the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Mr. Christos Staikouras, the Governor, the Executive Board and Executives of the HCAA, Members of the Board of the Aviation Academy of Greece, the Governor and Deputy Governor of HASP, as well as numerous representatives of organizations and companies in the aviation industry.

The HCAA Governor, Dr. Christos Tsitouras, was awarded by the President of the Hellenic Aviation Society, Mr. Andreas Papatheodorou, on behalf of the Board of Directors honorary plaque, and he, upon receiving it, stated that this distinction goes beyond the level of his individual assistance while he dedicated it to the staff of the HCAA, whose tireless efforts were a necessary condition for the success of his work.

The President of the ICAO Council, Mr. Salvatore Sciacchitano, during his speech underlined the multidimensional role of aviation in the connectivity of the planet, as aviation connects with speed and safety the global community on a professional, touristic, cognitive and cultural level. In addition, he mentioned the forecast indicators of air traffic growth and noted the challenges facing the airspace internationally.
