Georgia Lykou joined the new established Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority in 2021 and was appointed as Head of ‘Environmental Protection Section’ in February 2022. This Section belongs to Aviation Security & Environmental Protection Division, deals with regulation, certification, and supervision of environmental issues in Civil Aviation. Its main goals are aircraft noise and emissions reduction, airports environmental protection and carbon footprint mitigation, along with European regulations and International Standards implementation.

She worked for 15 years in the old HCAA, gaining significant experience in Technical Services Department, Environmental Protection Section, and Air Navigation Systems & Infrastructure Management Division. She was the former representative of Greece in International Environmental forums, and Member of the technical Committee on Aviation Environmental Protection (CAEP) in ICAO, while she continues this work, as recently appointed representative of the new established HCAA.

She holds a PhD from Department of Informatics, Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB), in the field of Cybersecurity and Aviation Critical Infrastructure Protection and three Postgraduate Degrees: i) MSc in Applied Environmental Protection Policies & Technologies, European University of Cyprus ii) MSc in Information Systems, AUEB, iii) Executive MBA, AUEB. She also holds two BSc degrees in Energy Technology Engineering & Computer Science. She has an excellent knowledge of English and sufficient communication skills in French, Italian & Spanish.
