The 72nd special meeting of ECAC Directors General of Civil Aviation (DGCAs), the Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC), took place in Malta from 7 to 9 September. The meeting took place with the kind hospitality of Transport Malta, at the invitation of Mr. Charles Pace, Director General of the Civil Aviation of Malta. Greece was represented by the Governor of the Civil Aviation Authority, Mr. Christos Tsitouras.

The meeting was attended by heads and high-ranking officials of civil aviation internationally. The Secretary General of ICAO, Juan Carlos Salazar, as well as the Regional Director of the ICAO Europe and North Atlantic Office, Mr. Nicolas Rallo, the Director of Aviation of the European Commission, Mr. Filip Cornelis, the Director General of EUROCONTROL, Mr. Raúl Medina Caballero, and the Acting Executive Director of EASA, Mr. Luc Tytgat were also present.

The theme of the meeting revolved around the global priorities in the field of European and international civil aviation and a special emphasis was placed on the support and promotion of innovation, as well as the promotion of the development of Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF).

All parties involved committed to orient and coordinate their actions together for a sustainable, resilient and innovative global civil aviation.
