Maria Savvidou joined the Civil Aviation Authority in December 2021 and was appointed Head of the newly established Department of Procurement and Material Management in May 2022. The department aims to oversee and ensure the design, implementation, monitoring and management of procurement services for Civil Aviation Authority applying the principles of legality, regularity and sound financial management. The department ensures the optimal allocation of resources and the overall efficient management of the Authority's material and facilities in order to ensure the efficient, effective and rational utilization of the Authority's financial resources.

She worked for 15 years as an employee initially and later as a Sales Representative at Olympic Airways S.A. and in November 2010 she was transferred to the Civil Aviation Authority as an Administrative-Financial Officer.

She holds a degree in Greek Philology from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, a degree in Business Administration and Organizations, an MBA in Business Administration and a postgraduate degree in Business Economics Law. Since September 2019 she is a PhD Candidate in the Department of Business Administration of the University of the Aegean and is preparing her doctoral dissertation entitled "Regulatory supervision of airports in terms of service quality. Greek airports as a case study. "
