Meeting of the EASA Executive Director with the Governor of the Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority - June 2021

The Executive Director of the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), Patrick Ky, visited on Wednesday, June 9, the Governor of the Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority (HCAA), Christos Tsitouras, at the HCAA offices at Athens International Airport.

This important visit of the Executive Director of EASA took place, in order to examine closely the progress of the works, regarding the official start of operation of the HCAA, according to law 4757/2020.

The HCAA task force that is already working in the transitional period until the official operation of the Authority was introduced and a fruitful exchange of views followed between the two high-ranking executives on the future mode of operation of the new body, where a complete match was found.

Mr. Ky expressed his satisfaction to Dr. Tsitouras for the recent announcement for the staffing of the Civil Aviation Authority, as well as for the other actions that are in progress and are expected to be completed in a very short time, while assured Dr. Tsitouras of EASA 's full support to the Authority.

Dr. Tsitouras made special mention of the important contribution of EASA from the beginning of the project of creating the new authority until today, thanking Mr. Ky for this, and assured him that the main strategic goal of the new Management will be the operation of the HCAA in accordance with EASA standards.

In closing, Mr. Ky stated that he will pay a new visit after the operation of the Civil Aviation Authority, to meet the new members of the Management as well as all the high-ranking executives, but also to confirm that the new body operates now in line with the standards of advanced European authorities.
