SWIM enables seamless information access and interchange between all providers and users of ATM information and services. It takes information management business practices from the ICT sector, such as Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) and the use of open standards and web technologies, and applies them to ATM.

The workshop was organized with the objective of enhancing Coordination and Collaboration among all relative stakeholders in Greece, sharing the most updated information, and discussing the challenges and opportunities in the implementation of SWIM.

The event saw participation from a broad spectrum of Aviation professionals, experts and Stakeholders, including:

  • Department of Civil AVIATION of Cyprus (DCAC)- NSA
  • The Hellenic Aviation Service Provider (HASP)
  • Hellenic National Meteorological Service (HNMS)
  • Hellenic National Defence General Staff
  • Hellenic Air Force Academy
  • Hellenic Air Force

  • Regulatory Framework. The applicable Regulatory Framework was presented and analyzed with a special focus on the requirements and the forthcoming deadlines including: CP1 Regulation – ICAO – SESAR.
  • Data Standardization and Interoperability: Participants explored how SWIM ensures seamless data exchange between different systems, promoting interoperability and reducing fragmentation in air traffic management systems.
  • Security and Data Privacy: Given the sensitive nature of aviation data, robust measures for cybersecurity and data protection were key topics of discussion.
  • Implementation Challenges and Best Practices: Lessons learned and strategies for overcoming common obstacles.
  • Future of SWIM

Collaborative Spirit and Networking

One of the most significant achievements of the workshop was the level of collaboration and engagement among participants. Interactive breakout sessions allowed stakeholders to network and exchange ideas, fostering an environment of shared knowledge and cooperation.

Feedback and Future Initiatives

Feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive.

Looking Ahead

HCAA is dedicated to supporting implementation of SWIM, in alignment with applicable regulatory framework, through dialogue and collaboration with stakeholders at national level. The success of the workshop represents a significant milestone in this ongoing journey, and HCAA looks forward to continuing the advancement of SWIM initiative.
