Visit of the EASA Executive Director to the HCAA offices

The Executive Director of the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), Mr. Luc Tytgat, having previously held a meeting with the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Mr. Christos Staikouras, visited the offices of the Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority on January 11th 2024 and met with the Governor of the Authority, Dr. Christos Tsitouras, and HCAA executives.

Mr. Tytgat was given a tour of the Authority’s premises and was informed by the HCAA management about the results of the inspection carried out by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) in Greece and its very positive outcome. On this issue, he expressed the satisfaction of EASA for this great national and European success and congratulated the HCAA on the results achieved in the critical field of aviation safety.

In the context of the discussions and having received detailed information on the activities of the HCAA, Mr. Tytgat encouraged the Authority to undertake even more regional cooperation initiatives at transnational level and expressed EASA’s support for any such action, which further enhances the country’s ability to exercise effective oversight over aviation organisations.

He also stressed the importance of cooperation between EASA and Member States in shaping future actions to promote aviation safety, strengthen new forms of urban mobility and implement environmental objectives.
