Konstantinos Karageorgis joined the new Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority in November 2021 and was appointed as Head of the General Directorate of Aviation Activities in December 2021. Within his remit as General Director are the domains of Flight Standards, Air Navigation Services, Aerodromes, Security and Environment, while he cooperates closely with EASA, ICAO and EUROCONTROL for all safety matters relating to civil aviation.

He worked for 33 years (1988-2021)  in the former Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority as Air Traffic Controller, having served in operational units and in positions at the HQs (1988-2011). He was appointed as Head of Department and Head of Division during his tenure at the Hellenic Air Navigation Supervisory Authority  (2011-2021). As a safety expert, he contributed to the implementation of the European legislation for the reporting and analysis of occurrences in civil aviation and for other ANS safety matters. He was a trainer at the School of Civil Aviation and represented Greece in international aviation organizations.

He has extensive experience as an auditor in the field of ATM/ANS, as well as in the Single European Sky legislation, in the development of procedures and in the technical analysis of ANS matters. He is an active ICAO USOAP ANS auditor.

  He holds a Bachelor degree in Economics from the University of Athens and an MBA from Lehigh University, USA.
