Dimitrios Roupakias

Dimitrios Roupakias joined the new Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority in October 2021 and was appointed Head of Economic Oversight Division in December 2021. The main goal of the Division is the Economic Oversight of Air Transportation sector.

He worked for 27 years in the old Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority, first as employee (1995-2011) and then as Head of Section – State Aviation Control (2011-2021), gaining significant experience in areas such as Airport Operations, Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting, Emergency Plan, Airport Oversight, Airport Maneuvering Areas Safety, Aviation Security Oversight, Facilitation, Occurrence Reporting.

He has extensive experience in issuance of emergency regulations and procedures. He has also taught at the Hellenic Civil Aviation School (2005-2010) covering Airport Operations and Terminal Capacity Assessment.

He holds a BSc degree in Business Administration from University of Piraeus as well as a postgraduate MSc degree in “Airport Planning & Management” from Loughborough University of Technology, England, with leading professor Norman Ashford, a renown expert and author in Airport Engineering and Airport Operations.  The MSc included courses such as Airport Engineering, Airport Operations, Air Transport Economics, Environmental Planning, Aviation Legislation and Aircraft Characteristics. In addition, he holds a MSc degree in “Tourism Business Administration” from the Hellenic Open University. During his student years, he was a member of Association Internationale des Etudiants en Sciences Economiques et Commerciales (AIESEC), a non-governmental organization member of the UN promoting leadership development, cross-cultural internships and global volunteer exchange experiences among university students.

In his spare time he enjoys cycling, swimming and walking in the nature.
